What is the daily hack leaderboard?

Every day, HackerDNA publishes one bite-sized hacking challenge - the daily hack. Solve it and you earn XP; be the first person in the world to solve it and you earn a first-blood bonus on top. This board adds up that XP across every daily hack a player has ever solved and ranks everyone by the total. It is a pure measure of who shows up and solves, day after day. It is separate from the daily hack streak board, which ranks by consecutive days rather than total XP.

How daily hack XP is calculated

Two things earn XP on the daily hack. The first is solving it: every solve banks the day's XP. The second is being first - the first solver of each daily hack draws first blood and earns a bonus on top of the solve. This leaderboard sums both, so a player who solves consistently and grabs the occasional first blood climbs faster than one who only solves now and then. Equal totals are broken by the number of daily hacks solved, then by total XP.

How to climb the daily hack leaderboard

Consistency beats intensity here. The daily hack is designed to take a few minutes, so the players at the top of this board are rarely the ones who grind for hours - they are the ones who never miss a day. Solve early in the day to give yourself a shot at first blood, and treat the daily hack as a habit rather than a task. A solve a day, plus the occasional first blood, is enough to climb into the top ranks within a couple of months.

Daily hack vs the main Hall of Fame

The global Hall of Fame ranks players by all XP from labs, writeups and courses - it rewards depth. This board is narrower and faster: it only counts daily hack XP, so a newcomer who solves the daily hack every day can rank highly here long before they would appear on the main board. It is the most accessible leaderboard on HackerDNA - everyone starts the daily hack from the same line each morning.
